Carpinteria State of The City
On March 19, the Chamber of Commerce hosted its State of the City meeting online with various local leaders giving reports on the status of the business community as it struggles to return to “normal” after a year of shutdown.
Friends of Bates Beach belongs to the Chamber and it is important we maintain their support for our beach because it was their friendship that laid the foundation for the county you give us permission to return five years ago. The speakers concluded the city is poised for a large comeback once the COVID vaccinations are all done and herd immunity kicks in.
The meeting revealed that the area’s income was down 14% over the past 12 months and local hotels were down by 37%. We should plan a $2 Day in Carpinteria for early May as the county moves from the COVID red tier to the yellow tier.
