Carpinteria Avocado Festival Cancelled Due To COVID Concerns

Carpinteria's California Avocado Festival, scheduled for October 2, has been cancelled until 2022 due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Event organizers made the announcement on social media stating they were faced with challenges that "did not make it feasible or safe to move forward."

"This decision was made due to capacity concerns and to minimize the potential risk to members of our community as well as the several thousand out of town visitors that attend the event each year," the statement read. The annual event has taken place for the past 39 years in October but was cancelled last year, also due to COVID-19.

Friends of Bates Beach has staffed an information booth at the Festival for the past several years and always received a great reception from the local community.
