California Beach Cleanup Day September 18 And Beach Picnic Follows

The annual California Beach Cleanup Day on September 18 will be a massive effort to remove trash from 27 beaches, creeks, rivers, and hiking trails in the county of Santa Barbara.

Friends of Bates Beach has been doing this for about 15 years and it always yields about 30 pounds of paper, clothing, Styrofoam, cigarette butts, etc.

We need volunteers to help, those not going to the Worlds Naked Bike Ride in downtown Los Angeles scheduled for the same day.

The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet!

The cleanup begins at 9 am and lasts until noon, although people can arrive and hour or two late and still be effective.

Afterwards we will host another beach picnic in our traditional spot and celebrate the end of a great summer season.
